Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Irene A. Stein, age 99, who died Wednesday at the Assumption Home. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
A visitation for Irene will be from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Monday morning in the St. Boniface Church Narthex.
Irene was born in Cold Spring, MN to Andrew and Clara (Maehren) Schneider. She married Veach Stein on July 31, 1934 in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. Irene was a homemaker who loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting and playing cards. She was a member of St. Boniface Church, Christian Women, St. Julian Mission Group and the Cold Spring American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Janet Benson of St. Cloud, Robert (Joan) of Cold Spring, Susan (Mike) Hammer of Cold Spring, Ralph (Mary) of Richfield, Linda "Liz" (Chuck) Unterberger of Watkins; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Veach; 3 infant children; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Memorials preferred to Assumption Home. Arrangements by Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.
