Donald Fuhrman Obituary

Donald H. Fuhrman

Donald H. Fuhrman was born in 1925 in Edgeley, North Dakota to Clara Barton (Spitzer) Fuhrman and George M. Fuhrman. As a teenager, he and his brother Harold played in the band Fuzzy Fuhrman and the Professors of Rhythm. Don played the clarinet. He left Edgeley to fight in WWII and served in the Army Air Forces in the South Pacific. After the war, Don graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

In 1946, he met the love of his life, Edla Parson, whom he wed in 1949. They lived in Seattle where he managed a Safeway store in Ballard. While in Seattle, Don and Edla had two daughters: Patricia (Pat) and Deborah (Deb). The family then moved to Spokane for a few years where Don was a regional representative for the Carnation Company. In 1962, Don was transferred to Los Angeles to the Carnation Company's world headquarters. Don continued to work at Carnation as a marketing executive until he retired.

Upon retirement, Don and Edla moved back to the Pacific Northwest where they spent their retirement years traveling the world, playing golf as members of the Fairwood Country Club, and spending time with their family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by both of his parents and by his brother, Harold G. Fuhrman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edla Fuhrman, and his two daughters, Deborah Huntting of Seattle and Patricia Jarvis of Reno, his son-in-law Dave Jarvis, his four grandchildren, Zachary Huntting (married to Eiko Kowada), Wyatt Huntting, Jenny Jarvis (married to Jason Hamill), Chris Jarvis and two great-granddaughters, Ciel Huntting and Daylen Huntting Muenchow.

He was the epitome of integrity and will be greatly missed by his family and many lifelong friends for his intelligence, his kindness and his sense of humor.

At Don's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Childhaven or Evergreen Hospice would be appreciated.
