Gary Bogachus Obituary

Gary Duane Bogachus

Dr. Gary Duane Bogachus, 74, passed away on September 27, 2017 in Kirkland, WA.

Gary was born April 8, 1943 in Shelton, WA to Anthony and Doris Bogachus. He graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and then attended dental school at the University of Washington. Afterwards, he completed graduate studies within the Dental Medicine program at the University of Pennsylvania. He spent several years teaching and providing clinical instruction within UW's School of Dentistry before starting his own dental practice in Bellevue, WA, specializing in Prosthodontics, where he worked until retirement.

He married Victoria Bogachus in 1981 and they had two daughters, Lindsey and Brett, before eventually divorcing. His girls were the light of his life and he used every opportunity in conversation to talk about their accomplishments in sports as they grew up.

He pursued his passion for the outdoors, going on hunting and fishing trips across the United States and Mexico. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden, growing his infamous tomato plants, and in his kitchen, entertaining guests with his homemade dishes and endless stories.

He was preceded in death by his father Anthony Bogachus, mother Doris Bogachus, and nephew Dennis Dietz. He is survived by daughters Lindsey Bogachus and Brett Bogachus, sisters Evalyn Dietz and Lynnette Manning, aunt Joyce Lee, nephews David Dietz and Douglas Dietz, and niece Julie Manning.

Gary's daughters wish to thank the staff at Aegis Lodge in Kirkland and Providence Hospice, who provided wonderful, loving care for Gary in his final months. In honoring his private wishes and personal choice, there will be no memorial service. Contributions in his name may be made to Providence Hospice or a charity of your choice.

I am very saddened to read of Dr. Bogachus' passing. He phoned regularly, inquiring how my dad was doing during his cancer treatment and I will never forget that. May he rest in peace with the other great prosthodontists we have lost.

With love,

I was a patient of Gary's for many years till he retired. Always looked forward to sharing jokes with him. He was a good man. Godspeed.

Gary was a great companion when we traveled all over North America fly fishing. He was a brilliant prosthodontist, able to combine the altruistic academic literature and research with his wonderful clinical skills in his dental office. Garys' patients loved him.
There was never a time when he did not talk about his two children, Lindsey and Brett, and how proud he was of their accomplishments. Gary will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Dear Lindsey, Brett and family,
You are certainly in my thoughts. I will never forgot seeing Gary light up whenever he was with his daughters, and I remember the conversations we had where he spoke about how proud he was of them both like it was yesterday. Blessings to you all!
Love, Donna
