In 1967 the family relocated to Bellevue where Karl was a member of the first graduating class of Interlake High School. He earned a B.S. in Geology from the UW.His first exposure to exploration geology in Alaska hooked him for life. Mud, flies, bears, moose, cranky helicopters notwithstanding, he was spending every day doing something he loved, working with other geologists, drillers, and adventurers in the extraordinary beauty of God's creation of rocks, mountains, deserts, glaciers, and beaches. Karl earned his Master's Degree from the University of Nevada at Reno in 1983 and was an active member of the Geological Societyof Nevada. In his career he mapped and prospected across the West from Canada to Mexico. He was anavid runner and enjoyed skiing, hiking, kayaking, photography, and woodworking. He helped innumerable people with building projects and helped many others with his special kindness as they walked through challenges in their own lives. Karl was the third of nine children and was the third Geologist. He deeply cared about his large, close-knit family and visited often. He was our family connector and caretaker and will be missed so deeply by us all. A funeral Mass will be celebrated for him Saturday March 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Duvall, WA.
