Megan Reynolds-Gooch Obituary

Megan (Meg) Perry Reynolds-Gooch

Megan Perry Reynolds-Gooch (31) of Seattle, died on Thursday, August 3 at her home in Seattle, Washington.

Preceded in death by grand parents Ernest and Nelma Gooch. Meg is survived by her partner, Ryan Austin, her parents, David and Gaye Reynolds-Gooch, her sister, Kate Reynolds Thorson and brother-in-law Christopher Thorson; her grandmother, Betty Meyer and grandfather, Al Reynolds; her aunts & uncles, Todd Reynolds, Kim Reynolds, Joyce Alworth, Bill Alworth, other relatives, as well as many friends & collegues.

Born in Minneapolis she grew up in Europe and Minnesota, and later moved to Seattle to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington. Since graduation Meg was employed as a nurse at Seattle Children's Hospital. She was known among friends and colleagues as a "baby whisperer" with a special gift for nursing sick children that left permanent imprints on innumerable lives.

Meg was magnetic and captivating, with her bold, mischievous eyes, infectious giggle and generous heart. She was fearless and independent from a young age, and exuded an inspiring blend of strength, authenticity and grace. She never dipped in her zest for a life overflowing with adventure, laughter and love.

Meg wanted to be remembered as a beacon of joy; one cannot see a photo or tell a story of Meg without a smile. On Sunday, September 10, at 2:00pm at Kiana Lodge (Poulsbo, Washington) we will gather to celebrate our sweet Meg. In lieu of flowers, Meg suggested a donation to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation in her memory https://netrf.org/donate or mail to Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation, 321 Columbus Avenue, Suite 5R, Boston MA 02116.

Linda and I were so fortunate to meet and get to know Meg through our son, Marcus, who is a close friend of Ryan, her courageous and loving partner. As we spent time with her and Ryan - at our home, in the mountains (together with her lovely sister Kate), cheering on the Sounders - we grew to love her like our own. We will carry those memories in our hearts throughout our lives, and never forget her kind and philosophical words the last time we were together earlier this summer; even then, when in great pain and realising her own mortality, she was - as ever - incredibly warm, thoughtful and beautiful. We are so fortunate to have been brought into the aura of this remarkable person, and in the future we can only commit to try our best to be as kind and as generous of a person as was our dear Meg.

We are heartbroken that we will not be able to physically join her life celebration due to an engagement committed to over a year ago, but in spirit and with love, we will be with Meg, her family and her friends.
