Norma Wygle Obituary

Norma WYGLE Norma Wygle (nee Renton) was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on December 20, 1920. She was one of six children of Roy and Jean Lindsay Renton. Following the death of her father in 1939, she moved with her family to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. There, in 1947, she met and married a dashing, young pilot by the name of Brien Wygle. Brien took a job with Boeing and they settled in Medina, Washington in 1953, where they raised their four daughters. Norma was a talented singer and dancer, a friend to all, a wonderful wife and mother and a delight to everyone she met. She had a gift for sharing the stories and songs of her childhood, was a whiz at puzzles and games and had a lifelong fascination with the mystery of nature. She could brighten any room with her wit and joy. She lived her life with humor, warmth, dignity and grace. Norma died peacefully with her family at her side on April 3, 2003 at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. She was 82. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Brien, of Medina, Washington; her sisters Jean Renton, Dorothy Daynard and sister-in-law, Ruth Renton, all of Vancouver, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews; her daughters, Kathleen Norma (Barry Irwin), Janet Christine (Barry Luboviski), Gail Anne, all of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Patricia Jean (R. Keith Moore) of New York City; grandchild, James Moore Wygle, also of New York City. She was preceded in death by her brothers Alan and James, and sister Margaret. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 84th N.E. and N.E. 12th in Medina on April 16th at 1 p.m. A Reception will follow at 2 p.m. in a hall adjoining the church. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Nature Conservancy or The Alzheimer's Association.
