Samuel Buyco Obituary
Just a month after celebrating his 90th birthday with family and friends, Samuel Hankins Buyco passed away peacefully on October 20, 2018.
Sam valued family and he'll be deeply missed. Everyone who knew him will always carry the memory of his intelligence and sense of humor.
Sam was born on September 18, 1928 in Ormoc, Leyte in the Philippines, to Lelia (Hankins) and Marcelino Buyco. Sam married Alicia Deocampo in 1956 in Manila; the couple moved to the U.S. where they eventually settled in Seattle in 1965.
A mechanical engineer by education and profession, Sam worked for such organizations as Boeing, Western Washington University and Seattle Public Schools, from which he retired in 1993.
Sam also had a love for business and over the years was involved in various agricultural and real estate ventures locally and in the Philippines.
Sam is survived by Alicia, his wife of 62 years; his children, Randall (Emy) Buyco, Neva (Scott) Kulp, John Buyco and Lilly Buyco; and his grandchildren, Kenneth, Jennifer, Matthew, Chase, Michael, Nicholas and Tyler. He is also survived by his brothers, Ishmael (Noemi) and Bobby (Susan); and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar (Lydia) Buyco.
A Mass to celebrate his life will
be held November 10 at 11:00am
at St. Mary's Catholic Church
611 20th Ave S, Seattle.
Rosary will be held prior to the
service at 10:30am and reception
will follow in parish hall.
