Arthur D. "Art" Hand

Arthur "Art" D. Hand Arthur "Art" D. Hand, age 56, carpenter, general contractor, owner of 'Work of Art,' died suddenly in his Redwood City, CA, home on Sunday, February 18, 2007. Art was born on November 15, 1950 in Queens, NY to the late Joe and Griselda "Sally" (Pagnini) Hand. He spent his youth in Orlando and the Florida Keys before joining the Air Force and serving four years in Atlanta as a mobile transport radio operator. He moved to the Bay Area in 1975 and quickly established himself as a skilled carpenter and later as a general contractor, specializing in kitchen and bath remodeling. His award-winning work has been featured in many design and fine-homebuilding publications. Art had recently fulfilled a life-long goal of designing and building a home for his family in Shelter Cove, CA, a remote coastal community they love. Art is survived by his life-partner, Judy Marchant; her son, Hayden Seto; brother, Rodger Hand of Redwood City; sisters, Cathy Hand of Rocky Point, NY, and Carol Atkinson of Elverta, CA; two nieces and four nephews. He lived life to its fullest, believing every day was a gift. We will miss him dearly. Memorial services were held on Feb. 21, 2007 in Redwood City .
