Claire Constantino Obituary

Claire Constantino 2/3/1922 - 10/2/2010 A long time Peninsula resident and mother of twelve children passed away peacefully at home Saturday evening, October 2nd, 2010 at 88 years of age. Claire was a proud third-generation San Franciscan, and a graduate of Lowell High School. She was a beloved wife, for thirty-six years to the late Paul J. Constantino, a Burlingame Realtor, and was preceded in death by sons, Marc and David. Claire was a strong and independent woman, who enjoyed her adult years traveling far across the world. She attended many study tour groups to learn about the customs of people in foreign lands. She shared her love and enthusiasm for travel with her family and friends. Claire was a passionate supporter of the Arts, including the Filoli Gardens, the San Mateo Performing Arts Center, study lecture programs, and the San Mateo Library Foundation. Her hobby was photography and her picture taking skills were exceptional. She is survived by ten children, namely Doris Osterling, Paul Jr., Joan, and John all of Burlingame. Thomas of Redwood City, Philip of San Mateo, Carl and Bob of the Redding area, Catherine of Napa, and Ken of Hillsborough. Also thirty-five grandchildren and thirteen great-grand children, her sister, Diane Opie, of Foster City and numerous nieces and nephews. Claire's generosity and unconditional loving nature will always continue to inspire her family and those that were touched by her generosity. Her life was blessed by God, as she lived and died well. May she rest in peace. The Constantino Family would like to thank the Sterling Court Senior Living Facility, The Sutter Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, the Sutter Health Services at Mills-Peninsula Hospital, and private care givers for their skilled care and support of our mother. There will be a prayer service at Crosby N. Gray Funeral Home in Burlingame on Thursday, October 7th, at 7:30 P.M. A private burial service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Condolences may be offered to the Constantino Family at P.O. Box 1403, Burlingame, CA 94011. Contributions in the name of Claire Constantino to your local schools are encouraged and welcomed.

Claire was one of those truely classic personalities, a once in a lifetime, my fondest memory was her gift of letter writing, she never gave in and held precious some of the "old" ways. I always loved her for that! She will be missed, my prayers for you all in your loss at this time. Cherish the memories! Love you all,
