David Frediani Obituary

David William Frediani
January 18, 1943 - January 13, 2024
Born in San Francisco on January 18, 1943 to Leo and Ruth (Vickery) Frediani, Dave passed away peacefully following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He fought to the end and slipped away in the arms of his beloved wife, Linda (Deely) Frediani, who cared for and loved him unconditionally for more than 42 years.
Dave is survived by his by his children, Sherry and Philip (Sumi); and his only granddaughter, Cheyenne. He loved his children, and wanted nothing but the best for them.
Dave was preceded in death by his older brothers, Leo Frediani and Gerald (Kathy) Frediani. He is survived by Leo's children, Tamara (Dean) and Leo Jr. (Robin); and Jerry's sons, Jerry Jr. and Shane; as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
Dave loved his in-laws, the late Bill and Bev Deely, and was loved by many brothers and sisters-in-laws and dear friends. Dave was grateful to have his favorite nurse and our neighbor, Karen Neff, helping with his care. No other nurse would do. We will all miss him dearly.
Dave enlisted in the Army in 1960, and because of passion for cars, joined the Quartermasters Division. After being trained at Fort Ord. He was deployed to Europe and drove trucks and heavy machinery throughout Germany.
Dave also achieved the status of sharpshooter, and was honorably discharged just months before his 21st birthday.
Upon returning to San Francisco, Dave joined the Teamsters Union and took a job parking cars in downtown hotels. Shortly afterwards, he joined the ranks of newspaper drivers at what was then the San Francisco Newspaper Agency (SFNA) now the San Francisco Chronicle, and worked in Transportation, Home Delivery and Street Sales. Dave was a valued employee and a diehard union man, and maintained an impeccable work record until his retirement in 2002.
Dave was also a lifelong Giants and 49ers fan and had season tickets to the 49ers for many years. He will be pulling for his team from up above this Sunday.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dave may be made to the charity of your choice.
