Dee Prince Obituary

Dee Miller Prince
July 31, 1955 - July 22, 2022
Dee Miller Prince achieved lasting tranquility on July 22, nine days before her 67th birthday, after an heroic, year-long battle with cancer. She crossed the horizon peacefully, surrounded by family, preceding Friday evening's setting sun with her signature class & grace,
Dee's quick & winning smile welcomed everyone, her breathtaking eyes captivated all, & her characteristic charm softened even the hardest of hearts. From childhood onward, those lucky enough to know Dee loved her from the instant they met her.
Born in Somers Point, NJ, Dee spent an idyllic childhood with her parents Louise & Bill Miller, sisters Cathy & Sally, & brother Jack in Linwood, NJ, with summers on the beach & the rest of the year active in school & extended family communities. After graduating from Lafayette College (Easton, PA) with a degree in English in 1977, she moved to Washington, D.C., beginning a long, successful career in writing & consulting. She covered the pharmaceutical industry as a reporter & editor for FDC Reports, where she met co-cub reporter & future spouse George. After marrying in 1985, they moved to California, where Dee worked as a consultant at SRI International in Menlo Park while George enjoyed law school.
With Hannah just a baby & Nick not yet born, she & two other SRI colleagues founded what was to become Health Strategies Group, a pharmaceutical industry marketing research firm that grew from the original three to employ more than 80 by the time it was acquired in 2017 to anchor Eversana. Dee thoroughly enjoyed advising firms about managed care developments, creating services, & working with her fun colleagues. She was justifiably proud of the jobs HSG created & the many careers it helped launch. Her manifold volunteer activities included Art in Action, the San Carlos Education Foundation, Lafayette College's Western Advisory Board, and AAUW, among others.
She retired in 2018 and moved from San Carlos to Incline Village, NV, where she & George immersed themselves in most of the year-round outdoor activities Tahoe has to offer. Dee loved music, reading, color, textiles, but mostly loved spending quality time with family & friends. Always vital & fun, Dee's personal hallmarks include - make any place you are better, - always do your best, - don't cheat or lie, - have faith in all, - & be nice to all. She lived all of these. To say she will be missed understates an understatement.
Dee was preceded by her parents Louise & Bill, and is survived by sisters Cathy & Sally (& Greg) Charleston, SC; brother Jack (& Jean), Glastonbury, CT; daughter Hannah, Portland, OR; son Nick, San Francisco; and George. There will be multiple private memorials across the US in coming weeks & months. Gifts in her honor may be made to the Tahoe Forest Hospice Services. Today is her birthday.

As one of the many awesome people of Health Strategies Group, I was fortunate to be hired and work directly with Dee. Being from Philly, I learned early on that Dee was a 'Jersey Girl' - where their residence is known by their exit number (Exit #30) of the Garden State Parkway. On the day of my interview, as we were returning from the Hawk Inn for lunch, she shared with me that her mother-in-law had just passed. As I was attempting some kind of consoling reply, I noticed that a tear was in her eye. That genuine emotion really touched me, and I realized at that moment that I could really enjoy working with such an authentic person. And she is! My time with Dee was special, and she was able to lift me up as a professional. I owe a great deal of where I am today to her mentorship. I was glad when she told me that she and George had moved to Tahoe- such a beautiful place. She gushed when she spoke of Hannah and Nick as a very proud and always concerned mother, providing the wings to find their own futures, and her scheme was always to be as close as possible. I have been taught that our life on earth is shorter than we know, and to make the best of it. I am grateful to know such a beautiful person, who really set the bar high on a life well lived! And I know in my heart that there is an encore! And I truly hope to see Dee again as she continues to find everlasting beauty in heaven. My profound condolences and prayers of comfort to George, Hannah and Nick.

Sending sympathy and love to Dee's family. Dee and I were Lafayette friends. She and I roomed together for our semester abroad in Kensington, London UK. We had some great adventures during our time there and then shared an apartment our senior year with two other friends. I will always remember Dee for her cheerfulness, willingness to give new things a go and her determination.
I can not begin to imagine the loss that George and her family are feeling. Hope that your wonderful memories support you during this initial time of loss.
Much love,

Although I have not seen Dee for quite a while, I met her in my sister's investment group, so many years ago, where she participated with 7 other wonderful women. She was always so joyous, warm and fun loving. Always positive and one of the sweetest women I have ever known. She was taken far to young. She brought happiness and compassion to everyone she knew and I cannot send enough prayers and loving thoughts to her family! She loved you all so much and enjoyed nothing more than talking about and being with you.

George and family - I can´t begin to say how saddened I was to hear of the unimaginable passing of Dee. It has even taken me a couple of days to get my mind together to figure out what to say here now. Dee was special--very special-to me as much as she was to so many of us at HSG. She was a mentor, a teacher, an expert, a guide, a critic, a leader, a colleague, and most importantly, a friend. She gave me a new career in specialty pharmacy that led to "fame and fortune" for eighteen years--how do I say thank you for all that she gave to and shared with me, but to say how much she will forever be in my memory of the best people I have encountered in this life. She was truly blessed to have you, Hannah, and Nick in her life, and she often shared those feelings with us over the years we spent together-it made our hearts swell with joy to hear of such love. In my search for what to say here, I came across these very telling words: "When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your life´s delight." To you all, let me say, may her memory be a blessing forever! Thank you for sharing Dee with us all!
