Donald Garibaldi Obituary

Donald Garibaldi
08/07/1932 - 02/28/2025
Donald Joseph Garibaldi, son of Joseph and Ida Garibaldi, husband of 65 years to wife Carolyn, father of Lisa and David, father-in-law to Bob Armanini and Michele Koshaba-Garibaldi, brother of Irene Aubright and brother -in-law to Harry Aubright, Arline Del Grande and Doreen Bertani, and uncle to many nieces and a nephew, and a large extended family, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 28, 2025 and was laid to rest on March 11, 2025, at Holy Cross Cemetary. A resident of Daly City and a member of the farming community of San Mateo County for approximately 75 years, Don will be remembered for his infectious personality and his passion for farming and growing of award winning cut flowers at both Garden Valley Nursery in Colma and 45 years in his family-owned business, Ano Nuevo Flower Growers. Don attended Serra High School in San Mateo and graduated in 1951. He was on the football team at Serra where he developed such a passion for college and professional football, namely the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the San Francisco 49ers. Don served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He had a heart as big as the moon and would never shy away from extending his hand out to help those less fortunate than him. His love for his family was unmatchable as he always said, "Family First." He will be surely missed by those that knew and loved him. Donations are welcomed and can be made to St. Judes Childeren's Research Hospital or Tunnel-to-Towers Foundation.

Don and my Dad were "buddies". My Dad thought of Don as a son.....think he gave him a motorcycle.
My Dad had "Quality Flower Shop" in SF. My Mother was a Podesta.
Don and Carol were at my wedding reception at the Fairmont Hotel 65 years ago.
My sympathy to the family.
I am saddened too because I always wanted to contact Don and talk about flowers, family and friends.
Guessing the two are now talking about "the good old days"

I was in Dubai (UAE) when a former student in Daly City notified me of Donald's passing.

I always found Don to be one of those rare down-to-earth persons who loved life without being obsessed by accumulating massive amounts of expensive possessions and collectibles, unlike others. I highly admired him for that.

I am quite certain he will be missed by Carolyn and his family.
