Edward Gallagher Obituary

Edward Gallagher
06/06/2024
Ed Gallagher of Twin Peaks passed away June 6, at the age of 73. Ed was a political activist, artist, and active member of the gay and disabled communities.
As a blind person, Ed was a member of the Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors and served as commodore for six years. He worked to develop a remote guidance system for the blind and in 2010, was featured in The Wall Street Journal for this work. Genoa systems was named after his long time guide dog.
Over the years Ed staged five performance art events focusing on social issues. In 1984, in the wake of Dan White's early release from prison for the murder of Harvey Milk, Ed reenacted the event on City Hall Plaza with actors wearing larger than life papier-mâché heads portraying Mr. Milk, George Moscone, and Dan White, the gunman, brandishing a three-foot-long pistol.
Whether it was bungee jumping or participating in a zero-gravity flight as a blind artist in space, he pursed life to the fullest and was inspiration to his friends.
Ed is survived by hundreds of friends; brother, Gary; and sister-in-law, Helen. For a YouTube featuring Ed [https://bit.ly/3RKkKg7]

I helped Ed out in the early days of Genoa Services. Me sitting on my couch in MN and him walking around trying to find WiFi. Terrific idea before the technology could host such a feat. Every once in a while I´d get a wrong number call from Ed when he was trying to call his local person named the same as me. We´d talk for a good while when that happened. Always a pleasure to catch up with his shenanigans. He will be missed.

I graduated with Eddie at Lake Fenton High School on June 6 1968 in Fenton Michigan he was cool. He was our Class President one time on St. Patrick´s Day he came to school with Green Hair. Ha ha He steamed open his draft notice letter. And Said Earl I want to go to
California before I get drafted figuring if the mail did not come till
He was on his way to
California. No harm done ha ha he put it back in the mailbox and he went out west for awhile. Another time 4 of us took our cars to
A field on Fenton Road and we played polo with a large beach ball and Giant bats. He was too much FUN. Aloha Eddie
