Elizabeth Ferguson Obituary

Elizabeth May Taylor
Ferguson

Oct 17, 1920 - May 18, 2014

Beloved wife of the late Paul Benjamin Ferguson. Loving mother of Paul Benjamin Ferguson, Jr. (and his wife, Linda), Susan Ferguson Pustilnik (and her husband Arnold), and the late Sally Ferguson. Loving grandmother of James Scott Ferguson (and wife Andrea), Michelle Ferguson Bertoldo (and husband Greg), Sarah Samantha Pustilnik, Samuel William Pustilnik, Travis Guy Ferguson, Zachary Thomas Ferguson, and Julianne Carol Ferguson. Loving great-grandmother of Nicolette Emma Ferguson, Sophia May Bertoldo, Jessica Taylor Ferguson, Stella Michelle Bertoldo, and Ava Julianne Bertoldo. Dear sister of the late Leland Graham Taylor, M.D.
Betty May was born in Boston, Mass. She grew up in Oakland, graduated from the Anna Head School and the University of California, Berkeley, where she was a member of Delta Gamma, Prytanean, and Pi Alpha Sigma. While her husband served in the South Pacific, she obtained a degree in Occupational Therapy from Mills College and Dibble General Hospital.
After raising their family in Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Oakland and Orinda, the Fergusons moved to the Embarcadero in San Francisco in 1971 and lived there for thirty years, enjoying the culture of city living and a wonderful view of ships and boats on the bay. Betty devoted many years as a volunteer O.T. at Laguna Honda Hospital, was an active tennis player, and hosted many memorable family celebrations and weekends with grandchildren.
In 2001 they returned to Walnut Creek. She spent her last two years at Aegis Living in Pleasant Hill. Leading an active life until her final days, she played in her college bridge club for over seventy years, won honors for her watercolor paintings, and was an inspiration to family, friends, and staff there. Betty was an accomplished, generous, beautiful and loving woman who will be long remembered and deeply missed.
