Eric Sorenson Obituary

Eric Jon Sorenson Called Willie by his immediate family, was born in San Francisco on May 5, 1949 and died of pancreatic cancer at age 62 on July 9, 2011. He grew up in the sunset district, attended George Washington high school, Oregon University and Michigan State. Eric carried on a long family musical tradition. Ferdinand, his grandfather, was a highly respected music teacher in Portland Oregon and Hubert, his father was a well known local musician who played in the San Francisco symphony. He became a professional french horn player and teacher retiring in 2010 as head of the music department at Terra Linda high school in San Rafael. Eric enjoyed bird watching and the great outdoors which motivated him to build a rustic cabin with a friend in Sierra City. He was also an accomplished storyteller. Eric is survived by two brothers, two nieces and a nephew. There will be no memorial service or funeral. Colma Cremation & Funeral Services 650/757-1300 colmacremation.com

Eric was my college roommate at Michigan State in the late 60's. We played in all the bands at MSU and had some great times..I am sorry to hear of his untimely passing. a great friend and super musician. God Bless Eric.
