George Juarez Obituary

George John Juarez
01/07/1944 - 12/15/2024
George passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vickie Juarez; his father, George Juarez (Marcie); grandparents, Nicholas and Ramona "Gram" Juarez; godson, Carlos Vasquez; and his aunts and uncles.
Born and raised in San Francisco, George attended St. Paul's Grammar School and Mission High School before earning an Associate's Degree from City College of San Francisco. He grew up in Noe Valley and was a Day St. Boy to the core. He served as a corpsman in the US Navy, and later had a successful career with IBM for 20 years.
George and Vickie lived in San Francisco, Redwood City and San Mateo before settling in Auburn for the past 33 years. They were devoted to each other and shared a beautiful life together as best friends and soulmates. They enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Their home was always open to loved ones, and they were the ultimate hosts. Thanksgivings in Auburn, George's favorite weekend of the year, were treasured times with family.
George was vibrant, fun and had a great sense of humor. He had a talent for entertaining kids, especially his nieces and nephews, with magic and card tricks. He could also play the piano, guitar and accordion. Active throughout his life, George was a great basketball player, known for his beautiful jump shot, and ran in many races, including a marathon. An avid tennis player, he was a member of the Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club. He was a spirited competitor and always enjoyed a game of pool, ping pong or darts. A skilled craftsman, he liked to build things for his garden; birdhouses and benches were treasured gifts to the family. He was a fan of the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants and was a 49er season ticket holder for 40 years.
He is survived by his siblings, Rene Juarez (Vickie), Carmen Daeley (Kevin), Jon Juarez (Sandy), Mark Juarez (Connie); brother-in-law, Art Vasquez (Carlene); and cherished nieces and nephews.
George lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends and will be deeply missed.
A service will be held on January 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA.
