Gerald Clark Obituary

Gerald "Randy" Clark
10/13/1945 - 05/31/2024
Gerald "Randy" Clark was born October 13th, 1945 to Geraldine and James Clark in San Mateo, CA. He passed away on May 31st, 2024 in Walnut Creek, CA. Randy attended Phillips Academy in Andover from 1962-1964 and later graduated from Stanford University in 1969 with a degree in Political Science. He was a passionate, life-long learner and a great lover of science and history.
Randy was an adventurous man and an advanced skier. He always preferred to do rather than to observe, and famously would take on many creative and technical projects, building and tinkering for hours at his desk. He had a private pilot's license and was an avid student of music, spending hours playing guitar, banjo, and flute. He loved traveling the world and was especially fond of the time he spent in Mexico and Europe. He was always kind and gentle toward animals and dearly loved all the pets he had over the years, including several cats, dogs, and birds.
Randy loved his work in the elevator and escalator industry and built a reputation as a technical and legal expert in the field over his 50-year career. He spent his longest tenure at BART, where he served from 1996-2013 as the District Superintendent of the Power and Mechanical Maintenance Division. After retiring from BART, he spent the next 11 years as Principal for Escalator Elevator Consulting Group, where he provided expert testimony as well as consulting services.
Above all else, Randy was a devoted father, husband, and a good friend. On October 12th, 2010, he married his wife, Christine, who joined him on many adventures, including cruises to Alaska and Mexico of which he would proudly show off photos upon their return. He was an intellectual with a keen sense of humor and a quick wit, ready to dispense thoughtful advice or a few sharp one-liners to those who sought him out, and many did. In addition to his many friends, he is survived by his wife, Christine, and his daughter, Haleigh.
A celebration of life will be held at the Redwood Grove in Old Mill Park in Mill Valley, CA on October 20th, 2024 from 12 PM - 2 PM.
"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau

Randy was one of the most awesome people I have ever know. He loved to "practice his Spanish " before our staff meeting and was always ready for me ( his words not mine ). See you in heaven my friend.....
