Gianni Carlo Pasini
Feb. 24, 1933 - Sept. 19, 2012
Our beloved father and Nonno Carlo passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 19 at his home in Santa Rosa, California at the age of 79.
Carlo was born in northern Italy, in the beautiful town of Prosto di Piuro on February 24, 1933. He was born to parents Giovanni and Emma who raised him and his siblings Rino, Attilio, Rosetta, and Marisa. Following his father Giovanni's dream of America, Carlo decided to begin his quest in search of the American Dream. Carlo always said, "God Bless America."
Carlo arrived in San Francisco in 1954 and wasted no time in making a life for himself. Soon after, he met and married Virginia Paoli in 1957. Together, they welcomed their son John and later, their daughter Susan. With the help of his cousin Rino Del Curto, Carlo became a handyman at Saints Peter and Paul church and eventually started to work on his own. Carlo taught his children at a very early age the same work ethic and determined spirit to succeed in life and continue his legacy.
Carlo and his family eventually settled in Santa Rosa, California. He was surrounded by what he loved most: his cows, his vegetable garden, and the serenity of his ranch. For him each season meant something of importance. Every moment counted like every season counted. Carlo often remarked that, despite his treasured life in Italy, there was no better place than America. He was a tireless worker who always strived to provide the best for his entire family. He spent his time creating and constructing beautiful projects that his family will continue to enjoy and treasure for a lifetime.
Carlo will live on in the memory of his sisters Rosetta and Marisa; wife Virginia; his son John and wife Stephanie; daughter Susan and husband Renato; and grandchildren Carlo, Michéle, Ellio, Giovanna, and Marco. His friends and relatives of his hometown in Italy will live on remembering an individual who impacted their lives so greatly. Our Papa and Nonno was truly ours and we will always be dedicated to continuing his legacy.
A rosary service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Street Mortuary, 649 Green St., San Francisco. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church, 2555 17th St., San Francisco.

I will forever hear Gianni's contagious laughter every time I think of him. Gianni was one of a kind. He celebrated life like no other. He lived it to the fullest. He brought so much joy to so many. Most of all, he was inspirational to many an immigrant. His love and enthusiasm for America and everything American was bountiful.
We will remember him for his wisdom, optimism, generosity and love for mother earth and all its living things. His work ethic was one of a kind. We will miss him deeply.

It is so hard for me to believe. I can still hear his voice in my head and remember with fondest memories all the times we spent together.
