HAMILTON MEEK Obituary

Hamilton (Hammy) Meek There is a little less laughter in the world today with the passing of Hamilton (Hammy) Meek. Surrounded by his family and friends, Hamilton was the true host to the end. With that final wink and eyeful of mischief he departed from this world on April 10th ready to grab hold of the next. Hamilton was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, August 25, 1949, the son of Naomi and Donald Meek. He lived in Kaneohe, Hawaii until 1957 when his dad and brother, Randy, moved to San Francisco. Hamilton attended Kate Kennedy Grammar School, James Lick Junior High and Mission High School and has kept life-long friends along the way. Back in the day he was proud to be called a "Day St. Boy" and till this day understood what brotherhood was all about. He was a 40- year member of IBEW Local 6 and proud to be called a "union man". During his retirement years, Hamilton loved being the Athletic Director at Mater Dolorosa and coaching his many teams. Hamilton faced many physical hardships over the last years but was a constant reminder to all of us to be forever hopeful and strong. A special thank you to Dr. Inokuchi, his doctor and friend, who guided and encouraged him over many of these "little bumps in the road" . He is survived by his wife, Patricia and son Daniel and his faithful companion, Junior. He will be truly missed by his brother, Randy (Darlene), his sisters-in-law Jeanne McManus and Carroll Meek, his niece Shannon (Ben Briones Jr.) and nephew Ryan and many cousins from his beautiful Hawaii. A Mass celebrating Hamilton's life will be held at St. Paul's Church, San Francisco, Friday, April 20, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Mission High School Athletic Department or St. Anne School's Washington, D.C. Trip Scholarship Fund. Condolences may also be made at www.gardenchapel885.com.

Remember my friend from our days at " Kate Kennedy"! Even a suspension for leaving the school grounds going his house across the street from school. Unheard of in those days.

Attended Kate Kennedy together remember sliding down stairway banisters , Him and I (in this day and period during lunch period ( left school campus to his house_) before his home phone rang telling us to get BACk. You didn"t do that in those days, 3 days suspended I from wife's writing that Hamilton had a great life,

I am deeply sorry for Hamilton wife, parents, siblings, and kids. I went to school with Hammy at Kate Kennedy, and got my first suspension from kate kennedy for leaving the grounds of the school. He just laughed. May you rest in peach, thanks for the days at day street part, and let the "Kennedy Brotherhood be remembered" as who and what we have become.

Dear "Mrs Meek",
We were all so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and Daniel's Dad. We did not know in time to attend the Mass (must be out of the loop).
Please know that our prayers and love are with you. The children (all grown-up now) and I shared great memories of your kindness and spunk when we heard the news.

We were sad to hear Hamilton passed and then reading the OB reminded of his laughs and wins and joys, his whole being. Joining many, many others at Mass, and later the reception (wake), we decided, sad, yes, but happy to have known such a wonderful man. Our heartfelt sympathies to Patti and Daniel. We hope in time you will remember the laughs most. Jerry and June Briesach

Patty and Family

My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. I remember Hamilton from our high school days and most recently seeing him at your home during one of our last reunion planning meetings. He was always upbeat and considerate of everyone - this is what I will remember about him. We are all enriched by having him as part of our lives.

God be with you all.

Dearest "Big Sister" Patty,

Freddy was so proud to have been a part of your & Hamilton's wedding, and I was happy to be invited as your "Little Sister". What a beautiful bride you were, and such a handsome man you were marrying! Hamilton will always be remembered as a kind, respectful and caring person who always remembered my name even when I would forget his!

My heart aches for your grief at the loss of your husband and father. As you celebrate Hamilton's life at Mass today, may the presence of your family and friends give you strength and may your memories give you comfort in the days ahead.

Your "Little Sister",
Viola Maestas. xoxo

Hammy was a special man, a positive and caring guy. When you were in Hammy's presence he always made a point of asking how you were doing. He had serious health issues and never complained. We feel blessed to have known your Hammy.

Dearest Patty and Randy~

My heart sank when I heard of Hamilton's passing. He was one of my all-time favorites at Mission. I will miss Hammy terribly, but will cherish the fond memories of our high school days together. Hammy will always be remembered and his spirit will live on in our hearts. Mahalo for the good times!

When I heard that Hamilton had passed away I was truly saddened.. I have such fond memories of us as children playing on our block. He and his brother Randy and my brother Mike were all friends. I know Patty from school and was so happy when they got together. Though we didn't see each other often over the years Hamilton was someone you didn't forget. His good hearted fun nature is something you could not forget. My heart goes out to Patty and Daniel.

My condolences to Patty and son Daniel. I remember Hammy as a gentle giant who was Fred and Eloy's friend. He's up there getting reacquainted with all his other Day Street brothers and sisters.
