Ingrid passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 2nd, 2025, of natural
causes, just a few weeks before her 94th birthday.
She was born in Berlin, Germany on August 27th, 1931. As a consequence of being married to a Jew, Ingrid's father, Ewald, was forced into a concentration camp. As a result of his captivity, Ewald died. Ingrid, her mother and brother emigrated to the U.S. in 1949, bound for New York City. The trio left New York for San Francisco in 1951. There, Ingrid found work at Moar's Cafeteria where she met and worked with her future husband, Henry Hernandez, who was the love of her life and whom she wed 1953.
During their marriage, Ingrid was also Henry's partner in business in the two restaurants they owned
and operated together over the years.
Ingrid was a kind, sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved to feed everyone the delicious meals she would make. She always had a radiant smile on her face and had the most beautiful and expressive blue eyes.
Ingrid loved to cook, garden, crochet, watch 49er games with her husband, go for short getaways and most of all, her family. She will be missed dearly and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by Henry and her brother, Fedor. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Mark); son Mark (Michelle); grandchildren, Courtney (Josh), Caitlin (Martha) and Connor, great-granddaughter Hailey, daughter-in-law Debbie, sister-in-law Helga, niece Margaret (Hilton), nephew John (Christy) and
grandniece and grandnephews.
Much gratitude to Shirley, Rose, Chary and Kevin at Heirloom Rose Garden for their wonderful care over
the last two and a half years.
The family will scatter her ashes at some of her favorite places, at a later date.
