Sleep well, dear Fr. John...You have done well, worked hard, spread your love, warmth, sparkle, and smiles each day of your life...Your time at OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL CHURCH AND PARISH WAS A MEMORABLE ONE ...I HAD JUST MOVED TO MILL VALLEY and your kindness and friendship were most appreciated... When I asked if you would visit a friend of mine who was dying of breast cancer in 2001, you asked for her address and immediately went to her home and visited her for almost two hours...She was sooo grateful for your visit...Thank you for this, Fr. JOHN !!! GO WITH GOD...Kathryn Walls Chan

Father had very unique way of greeting you.
He'd come up to you and say "Greetings".
I know when he was reunited with our Lord God must have reached out and said "Greetings"
God Bless you Father!

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Fr. John. His death leaves a heartache no one can heal yet he leaves memories no one can steal. Fr. John came into our lives leaving great footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. May he rest in peace.

My Family and I send our condolences to the Family of Father John Cloherty.
Father John grew up with my Step-Father in the Sunset and were lifelong friends. Father John also married my wife and I at St.Pauls Church in San Francisco many years ago.
When my wife and I initially had an appointment to meet with Father John, the office staff couldn't find him.
I decided to walk around the backside of the church and office only to find Father John playing basketball with one of the neighborhood kids because the kid had no one else to shoot hoops with.
Father John was a very kind man that will be missed by all.
God Bless you Father John

I enjoyed working with Father John when he was pastor at St. Andrews. We were blessed to have him touch our lives at other times. I don't believe I have known a better man. Rest with God, dear John

When my mother had a stroke and was in the hospital, I arrived to find Father Cloherty feeding her. That was a moment that touched my heart and stays with me always. I think those who knew him as pastor at St. Paul's remember him with great warmth and affection and keep him in our hearts and prayers.
