Passed away peacefully in San Francisco on August 9, 2016 with his partner of 46 years at his side. John was from Richmond, California and there attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Adams Jr. High, and he graduated from Richmond Union High School, class of '65. Throughout his life, John always looked forward to getting together with his high school classmates, with whom he was close. After graduation, he was active in the Theater Arts Program at Contra Costa College. In 1966 he joined the VISTA program, and spent time in West Virginia. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Our Grandmothers were friends decades before we were even born. I grew to adore both. You were special to me in a million ways and of course, your humor is so high on the list. I shall always be grateful that you had such a deep and caring relationship with John-D. I loved that we could talk on the phone and it was like we had just spoken yesterday. You were such a beautiful spark here on earth. I shall miss you so much but have over 55 years of memories to cherish. Be in Peace my friend and keep smiling.
~Love you

We will remember John's warm and giving heart, and his great sense of humor. Our City lost a little bit of it's "sunshine".
