Joseph Mazzetti Obituary

Joseph Michael Mazzetti

June 11, 1941 - August 3, 2019

Joe died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 3, 2019. He fought a courageous two-year battle against cancer with strength, dignity and resolute humor.
Born on June 11, 1941 in Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Mazzetti and Lena Citrone, Joe was an avid traveler who loved to share food, wine and great conversation – be it with old friends or new acquaintances. His sense of adventure continued, unabated, even during the advanced stages of his illness.
A beloved husband, father and friend to many, Joe spent the last 42 years living in San Francisco where he was a respected member of the construction industry and was involved with many projects in and around San Francisco including Pier One, San Francisco Zoo and the Exploratorium.
He is survived by his wife Anna, daughter Maggie and her husband Phillip, son Joey, sister Phyllis Smith, and brothers-in-law Andrew and Chuck.
We are heartbroken but will carry his spirit on.

Joe was a kind hearted person who looked for the good qualities in people. I worked with Joe on many different projects over the years and talked and shared many experiences over the years. He will be missed and be remembered. His inclusiveness was a distinctive quality no matter what. Anna, Maggie, Joey a stellar role model as a husband and father. Randy Greer

Joe inspired me in his zest for life and his imperviousness to the common temptation of cynicism. He was able to find joy in difficult work issues and maintained a positive, respectful outlook. Joe inspired me and working with him on Pier 1 was one of the highlights of my career. Ill miss his great presence.

Joe was a longtime, wonderful customer who always came in with a warm, friendly smile and often left with a case or more of favorite wines. He will be deeply missed by his friends at K&L Wine Merchants! John Majeski

I'm so saddened to hear of Joe's passing and send my warmest condolences to Anna, Maggie and Joey. I was so fortunate to have been on one of Joe's construction projects (Pier One in SF) and have so many fond memories of that time. He was such an outstanding leader, mentor, friend, and he had an amazing sense of humor -- he was one of those rare souls who could make work fun! He will be missed by many!
