Joshua Matthews Obituary

Joshua Charles Matthews Age 19, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007. He left peacefully in his sleep having made plans that day to host a pool party and barbecue for friends returning to college. He was generous almost to a fault, loving, kind and caring. Without fail, he would drop what he was doing to help out a friend. Josh noticed things others missed and had a great sense of humor, often displayed by his notorious huge laugh that lit up whole rooms. He is deeply missed and well-loved. His favorite activities included drama, theater, diving (where he placed twice in MCAL) and tennis. A graduate of Tam High, he was to start classes at City College of San Francisco this fall. He is survived by his father, Gordon Paul Matthews; mother, Deborah Kay Matthews; loving brother, Benjamin G. Matthews; half-uncle, Matthews Alton, and his grandparents, the Matthews of Tunbridge Wells, England. A private funeral service will be held Friday, August 17th in the morning. There will be a memorial that afternoon from 3-5 pm at Tam High's Caldwell Theater for those who would like to share in a celebration of his life. Donations can be sent to the Conservatory Theatre Ensemble at Tam High (www.ctetam.org).

I didn't see this section until today. I check online for you every week searching for some post or photo I have never seen. I dream that you secretly went to a private island and one day you'll be back, it's the only hope I hold onto. You were so young, so excited to have true freedom. I am so sad you never got to experience an adult romantic relationship, I am so sorry I didn't pick up my phone that night when you called me at 2am. If I could I would time travel back to that evening to save you. We didn't always get along, but we were so close, you were the closest I had to a brother. Nothing in this world will ever be the same without you, I still have moments I want to share with you before I remember. You were a special person, born in a special time, in a special place and I can only hope and pray that you're reincarnated and getting another chance to be you. I still have that little Koala you bought me on our date in 7th grade. It's holding a heart, and says I love you. To this day, loosing you was the most painful experience of my life. I wish these words would reach you somehow.... Burberry forever

We will all miss your merry presence and generous heart. You have been a bright spot for so many lives. May you shine that light forever.

My dear sweet Josh,
What a gift to have just seen you. -your hair cut shorter, your huge hug, the long conversation, and happy visit. To hear you tell me when you became famous, you shared your first show was to be about an honor to your Mom! You spoke happily about all of your family, and what a loving and close family you were so very lucky to have. You grew up to be the best parts of your Mom and your Dad. I still have the "pink ladies" I had just picked and you carried for me. They are one of my favorite flowers. Every time I see them, they will always have the precious memory of wonderful you! You were a best friend to Collin and Skye since you all were just little, funny, and entertaining rug rats! I will miss our family trips of boating on different lakes. I WILL MISS EVERYTHING, AND I WILL ALWAYS SMILE WITH EVERY THOUGHT OF YOU- AS THAT IS WHAT YOU ALWAYS BROUGHT OUT IN EVERYONE YOU TOUCHED.

I love you Josh,
Dawn

Josh,
For having had countless conversations with you, I'm almost at a complete loss for words. You are an amazing friend to this day and I love you for everything you've taught me. I'll carry the thought of you throughout my days and live in hopes that one day, we'll see eachother again. Takecare of yourself Josh. You are missed.
