I am so sorry. I was acquainted with Dr. Gerson only briefly. I had sleep problems and was investigating the intersection of GI and sleep issues, and found her completely because of her distance and availability. I didn't know this was an area of research for her and she was more than a little surprised I just showed up the way I did. She was always kind and professional and quickly ruled out any GI issues.
I'm shocked to hear of her passing. May her memory be a blessing to others as it is to me.

Doctor Laura gersony was a bright light in this world; she had such energy, enthusiasm, determination and love for what she did and people. She treated me like an individual instead of a disease or diagnosis and was not willing to give up until we had and answer. I'm heartbroken by this news and send her family the deepest condolences. Laura Gerson was an amazing person and surely created a magnificent ripple effect making this world a better place!! Sending hugs and prayers

Dear Bill and Gerson family,
In honor of Lauren's skating achievements and her spirit to always compete and do her best; I have arranged along with the help of Paige Scott, Manager of Yerba Buena Ice Center, and Jacki Sp-teri, Coach of many skating productions that Lauren skated as a member; a memorial skating trophy for the "Best Adult Performance" at the District 14 Championships to be held this June 8-10 in Lake Tahoe. This will be an on-going memorial given out each year at the championships. I miss Lauren all the time but especially on Wednesday's when she should be walking in the door for her lesson.
Always in my thoughts and prayers,
Cynthia

This has to be the most shocking news this year ! I am heart strickened by this. I am still digesting it. Lauren was the last person you would ever think for a second would be leaving this earth before a ripe old age of 100 plus. She was passionate about so many things cooking- her famous carrot, green bean and beets recipe it's the only time I've liked beets she made them taste delightful and her short bread cookies with a Hershys kisses on top. I remember seeing her ski at Tahoe amazed at the risks she took teaching me about the diamond. Remember seeing the gorgeous calligraphy she did for her and her husbands wedding vows hanging on the wall the front entrance of her home. Lauren put her words into action. I thank her so much for taking a chance on me for allowing me to experience her children who as little munchkins as Lauren called them many times brought tears to my eyes with their sweet gestures, surprises and warmth. A true representation of the love they received from Lauren. It brings tears to my eyes that Lauren will not be at the weddings of Andrew Jackie or Stephanie as Lauren loved celebrations and arranging them. I witnessed this with both her childrens and husbands birthday parties; always based on cool themes. I am so so sorry Andrew, Jackie, and Stephanie for your loss as I know that she will be missed so greatly and much heavy heartiness will be experienced when you turn your back around on your wedding day or at the birth of her grandchildren to see her and realize she's not there, but know she is. She is in you and I can testify to this as an outsider looking in. Some of my most fondest memories have been with Lauren's family. And Lauren where ever you are now I want to say thank you so much for entrusting me with your beautiful children. For allowing me to experience and witness perhaps one of the most beautiful families I have ever known. It's with a saddened heart I leave you with a psalm that gives me hope in such times psalm 23.

I share many years growing alongside Lauren. First as a fellow, and then as the distinguished physician she had become.
She never changed, she never felt she was better than anyone else. Lauren was funny, complex and full of life.
She loved talking to us nurses about her patients and personal life (especially her kids). Lauren was one of a kind.
She will be truly missed.

Dr. Gerson was my doctor, and I looked long and hard to find her. She saved my life. She treated me like a human being. I have two, very rare, chronic diseases within my GI tract, and Dr. Gerson treated me with respect! She helped me to establish a good team, and she brought hope, back into my life.
I'm very sad to learn this news. It was a huge shock to call my doctor yesterday, only to learn that she had passed away. I know Dr. Gerson gave me 100% effort and she was the only one. Having a rare, chronic disease or two, is extremely difficult, finding Dr. Gerson was like striking gold.
She's irreplaceable. I can't imagine what I'll do without her, so, it must be so much worse for her family and friends. My condolences to you all. May you rest in power, Dr. Gerson

I met Lauren when she brought her daughter to ice skate in 2012. I ended up teaching her for many years until she relocated her job to San Francisco. We remained closed friends and did a a running race together in 2014. I cherish the memories of her competing and being in our ice shows. I always admired how she would try new things and put her whole heart into being the best she could be. During her illness and the pain she was in she always had a positive outlook even in the darkest days. I will miss her greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

Lauren was an amazing woman. A brilliant, kind, and caring person who always opened her home to her children's friends often cooking them a special dinner or shuttling them safely to a school or social event. I met Lauren during our GI fellowship at Stanford. As many have mentioned she was a dedicated individual with a warm personality. I recently saw her again at the last ACG meeting in Las Vegas last October 2016. I told her we were all proud of her success which was well-deserved. Although I know she was busy, I remember her spending the time to catch up on a personal level. Needless to say, I was shocked by the recent news.
