Louis Baross Obituary

Lou Baross
April 12, 1949 - August 8, 2021
Louis (Lou) Michael Baross, 72, of Castro Valley, born in Redwood City, CA, on April 12, 1949, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2021, after an unexpected but short illness, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his devoted life partner of 32 years, Denise Archambault, and her extended family of daughter, Stephanie Moreno, grandchildren, Desiree and Mateo, and 2 great-grandchildren; his loving siblings, Bonnie Benedetti of Las Cruces, John (Jack) Baross of Seattle, and Celeste Baross of Santa Cruz; his beloved nephew, Mike Benedetti of San Francisco, and a wide circle of long-term caring friends.
Lou was known for his tremendous capacity to tell a good story that would leave us all in uproarious laughter; for his amazing breadth of knowledge and talents, from music and gardening to gourmet expressions at mealtime to mechanical engineering and global events; for his infectious ability to connect with people of all walks of life, and endearingly to young children; and for his reliability in giving sound advice on the smallest and largest of life's conundrums. His sense of social equity was exceptional and so admirable. Any contact or conversation with Lou always resulted in smiles and happiness, and a better sense of going forward.
Lou went to Mt. Carmel grade school in Redwood City, and Junipero Serra high school in San Mateo, CA. He majored in mathematics at San Francisco State University. He could have taken his remarkable talents in many different directions, but he chose to be the local car mechanic extraordinaire, helping people to resolve their essential automotive needs and giving them confidence to go about their daily lives safely and securely. He was exceptional at this job, and loved the interactions he had with so many who had complete trust in him.
Lou was a very special person, a giant of a man in heart and soul. He is and will always be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. We are grateful for the many wonderful memories he left us, and will hold him close in our hearts always.
A memorial service will be planned for a future time. Contributions may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) - website: www.lls.org or to the Lymphoma Research Foundation - website: www.lymphoma.org .
