Luciano Ortega Obituary

Luciano Enrique Ortega
08/02/1994 - 07/28/2024
On August 2nd, 1994, Luciano Enrique Ortega was welcomed into the world by loving parents Glenn Ortega and Jacqueline Selinger. At an early age, Luciano had a vibrant and joyful personality. Throughout his school years he attended Our Lady Of Visitacion School, Good Shepherd School and Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. Luciano loved drawing, painting and playing his ukulele.
As an athlete in school, he excelled in football and baseball. After proudly graduating from Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, Luciano attended San Francisco State University where he found his love for Rugby. In 2015, Luciano entered the police academy for the San Francisco Police Department in hopes of achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer.
In March of 2016, Luciano graduated as a proud member of San Francisco Police Academy Class 248. Throughout his career, Luciano considered his SFPD coworkers as brothers and sisters, an extension of his loving family. Luciano valued his mental and physical health, and made daily efforts to improve himself, and all those around him. His compassion and empathy for the City of San Francisco and his community, were the fuel of his service.
Beyond the badge, Luciano found love with the most amazing woman: Cynthia Sanchez. They were married on October 12, 2022. Lou and Cynthia shared their amazing lives with their dog son, Kingston. Together, they enjoyed food, music, travel, dancing, deep conversations and spending every minute with each other. Collectively, they were known in the real estate community as the Married Bay Area Realtors that created the most entertaining videos on Instagram.
Among the joys and passions they shared, Lou and Cynthia were a dedicated uncle and auntie pair to their four nieces: Kenese, Tenaia, Toatasi and Luisa (his namesake). Until the day of his passing, Luciano was a loyal and loving husband, son, grandson, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, and friend. On July 28th, 2024, the Lord brought Luciano back to his Kingdom so that he may guard us from above.
The family extends their gratitude to the San Francisco Police Department, the San Francisco Police Officers Association, the San Francisco Fire Department and EMS, the dedicated doctors at San Francisco General Hospital, Mayor London Breed and the entire Bay Area Community.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 9:30am at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 1111 Gough Street in San Francisco.

Such a terrible loss. He was such a nice, polite engaging young man, the world lost a gem. May he rest peacefully at the right hand of God. Condolences to his big extended family and wife.
