Maria Rando was my first grade teacher in 1963 when Kennedy got shot we held that connection for many years and I used to see her walking down the street and we would often talk and reminisce about that day.

I have known Maria Gloria since I was 5 years old. I wanted to be like her, mostly because every time I ate with the family, she would order dessert for her dinner while we children had to eat a sensible meal and watch her eating her ice cream sundaes or brownie sundaes. What a fantastic way to live! And, I understand that she continued doing that her entire life.
Once I was old enough, I realized what an intelligent woman she was. My mother always said that she was an amazing businesswoman and read her column in the Italo Americano religiously.
She was proud of her heritage and worked tirelessly to promote it.
She will be missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing the wonderful, vivacious, Maria Gloria when I joined the Museo Italo Americano in 1991. We became friends and Maria Gloria asked me to be La Befana for all the children coming to the museo on Jan. 6th.
I gladly accepted and had a wonderful time telling the story to all the ragazzi.
She was a pillar of the Museo and a terrific writer for the Italian American Newspaper. She was a terrific singer, organizer and all -round incredible human being. I will miss her!
