Michael Currie Obituary
July 22, 1965 - August 7, 2023
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael James Currie at the age of 58. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, daughter, Camryn, and parents, Jim and Loretta Currie. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Karen, who is survived by her daughters, Sarah and Caitlin Gilbert. He was a beloved husband and cherished father. Mike, a true provider, always gave an abundance of love and support to his family and friends and brought laughter to every gathering.
Mike was born in San Francisco. He graduated from Aragon High School and earned his B.A. in Journalism from the University of San Francisco. He spent 7 years at KNBR, working in the newsroom and as a producer before pursuing a new career in the electrical trade. He was a member of the IBEW Local 6 and worked as a respected and dedicated electrician for the past 26 years.
Mike was taken from us much too soon, and the loss to all who knew him is immeasurable. Family and friends are invited to a mass in remembrance of Michael at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Burlingame on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a reception at Par 3, Poplar Creek Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either the Bothin Burn Center at St. Francis Hospital or to Susan G. Komen.

I know of NO words to pour into that hole in your heart, in your soul. I was blessed to spend a few years with Mike at KNBR. My memory is of a young man with a big heart, an infectious smile. The room brightened when he entered. To my regret, I did not keep in touch, but my world is now a much sadder, darker place knowing that Mike is not in it. Cheryl, I ask our Heavenly Father to wrap you and Camryn in his loving, protective arms as your lives, as they must, go on.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike´s passing. Mike and I were grade school pals when Mike lived in San Bruno. Mike´s dad Jim was our little league baseball coach. I was happy to reacquaint with Mike in the Union construction industry. Mike was always the same friendly positive person. May god keep his family strong. Rest in peace brother.

Mike was a dear friend from our years growing up in the San Mateo Highlands together and my heart grieves with the whole Currie family as we absorb the blow of his untimely passing.
I remember Mike as a joyful, energetic and sensitive friend with whom I shared many indelible experiences during our formative years from grade school through graduation from Aragon. I am thinking of him with a smile and a tear.
May your memories of Mike be a blessing to you.

I will always be grateful to Mike and his family for providing loving home and family support system when I was struggling as a teenager with my own family and personal issues. Mike and I had so much fun and shared a deep friendship that I cherish to this day. My heart aches for Mike´s parents, and in general for his family and this loss to the community and world that have been blessed by Mike. Much love and respect my friend.
