Michael Noble Obituary
March 20, 1952 - September 11, 2020
Micky died from covid-19. Born to Albert Sidney Noble and Janine Marie VanScoy (Nice, France); Micky grew up in Queens NY; survived by younger sister Annabelle (Sarasota FL), son Stephen Smyk (San Francisco) and daughter Crystal Harne (Boonesburo MD). A 37-year Merchant Marine sailor (1971-2008), his work as a friend of Bill's was important and appreciated.

I'm so sorry to learn about Mickey's passing. He was a friend of mine. He was a dedicated friend of Bill and a good guy. I will tell our mutual friends, my condolences to his family. He often talked about his son over the years and I hope you read this. He really turned his life around and was helpful to many. I'm a retired Seaman and knew Micky before and after his transition to the good life. He will be missed. I really liked the picture of him I saw below in the SUP hall playing cards. Mickey was SIU and a good sailor.

Mickey ... a good friend and shipmate. We both started going to sea as teenagers. Had many experiences. Amazing he survived where others did not. Then, only to be taken down by COVID-19. We kept in touch with each other right up until he got sick this year.
Mickey experienced living in two worlds - the world of 50 years ago, and the world of today. Mickey liked reading what others wrote - but he himself could've filled volumes of intriguing, exotic, adventures filled with danger, humor, and mystery. Sailing on the China coast during the Vietnam war. The Middle East, South America, the Caribbean.
Mickey was a bosun. He knew ships. All different classes, types, and sizes. He knew how to keep a cool head in a storm - a bad weather storm, or a bad storm among an angry crew.
Mickey's gone but memories linger on.
