Norma Fay Obituary

Norma Follansbee Fay

8/23/26-12/11/17

Norma was born in Vermont with dreams of California in her veins. Her dream came true in 1978 when she moved to San Diego from Phoenix. She always expressed how lucky she was to be living in paradise.
A woman of so many talents. Whatever she set her sights on she accomplished. Norma was a low handicap pro golfer and master level bridge player, both of which she enjoyed until just last year. A seamstress so world class she could have worked on Madison Avenue, chef, painter, and an unbelievable interior designer. In the 50's and 60's she was jogging and practicing yoga (we had a great time exercising to Jack Lalanne!) into healthy eating and to her kids chagrin - little (but some!) junk food - she continued her yoga until her stroke October 1st. Two months later she passed peacefully in her sleep.
Though she was New England in her core, complete with accent, it was the Southwest and California that completed her soul. Norma grabbed life by the tail, never wasting a minute. She was an inspiration to all, most notably, her children. She was strong, capable, and independent. Norma was married to a Major in the Marines but was herself a soldier of life. Few have known anyone like her. A true original.
Norma embraced life thru all of its challenges, of which were many, with amazing success. A true inspiration.
Norma was predeceased by her husband, Charlie (USMC) and her son, sweet David. Norma is survived by her daughters, Seaneen (Foley) Marisa (Franco) Jan (Lieurance) and sisters Barbara of Utah and Rosalie of Vermont and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Mom, we missed you at Christmas but we'll see you in Heaven. You are beautiful and taught us much. Bravo, to a life well lived. You will always be an inspiration. Boy, will you be missed.

Seaneen and Jan.....I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Norma. Our mom's may not have seen eye to eye....but she was always my favorite - she was so full of life and spunk and I think I inherited some of that from her. I hope you are carrying on with good memories!

Norma ~ I thought you of all people would live forever. I was counting on it. Your piano playing always put me in a better mood. What couldn't you do? Such lively conversations we had!
We'll continue them...later.

I have known Norma since the late 70's. She and her daughter Seaneen have been my dearest friends all these years. Norma was an incredible person and the mold was broken when she was made. She'll be sorely missed.

My thoughts, prayers and sincerest condolences go out to Norma's family.

Rest in peace my dear friend.
