Peter DiBella Obituary

Peter Patrick DiBella
Jan 1, 1933 - Jul 9, 2021
Peter was a man of many talents from bouncer to chef and a Russian Hill icon seen in the 80's on Hyde and Green providing roasted chestnuts to the locals during the holidays. He was an avid Presidio bowler where he worked as a chef. His life took a beautiful turn when he met and married Barbara Arrighi. They were frequently seen holding hands gazing in each others eyes. Their's was a true love affair.
His home was full of chess strategy (Sicilian Defense) and Italian language learning cassettes and books. He was not a wealthy man, but had impeccable integrity and always reciprocated in style.
He was born in Manhattan, NYC, on New Year's Day 1933 to Nunzio and Mary (née Brillante) DiBella.
Peter, the 7th child of 10 siblings, was raised in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan.

Peter was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Barbara, his parents Mary and Nunzio, his brothers Mikey, Sal, Joey, Louie, and by his big sister, Nancy and his favorite sister-in-law, Linda DiBella.

Peter is survived by his brother, and lifelong buddy, Nick DiBella, and his children, Jodi DiBella-Simeone (George) and Councilman Robert DiBella (BettySue).

Also surviving Peter is his loving sister, Josie Lore, along with her children, John Lore (Marie), Nancy Bostic, and Lisa Minunni; his kid sister, Rosalie Muller, and her children , Marie Yourison, Katherine Yourison, Steven Yourison, Nicholas Yourison, Lisa Tamirci (Sukru), and Joseph Muller (Kim). His niece, Sherry Eid, nephew Marc DiBella, many grand nieces and nephews, and his God son, Guy Fiandaca.

Locally he is survived by his niece Kathy Bracco of Sausalito, his avid chess opponent/friend Abe Nahun, many friends at the Presidio Bowl and Za Pizza on Hyde, and four decade good friends Mel Mashman and Deirdre Harrington.

Peter may be remembered by donations to Meals on Wheels and Italian Community Services which helped tremendously during his declining months.
