Robert Meyer Obituary

Robert Henry Meyer Born July 14, 1917, died Wednesday March 25, 2009, he was 91. He was born and raised in San Francisco and attended Mission High School. After high school he went into the radio repair business and he also worked as a machinist at Bethlehem Steel. He then entered the Army Air Corps in World War II as a radio technician, where he was trained at Stanford University in 1942. In 1946 he married Eve Laidlaw, who passed in 2006. At the time of his marriage he began a career as a radio salesman and not liking that career choice he then founded Meyer Lithograph in 1948, which he successfully operated until 1995 when he and Eve retired. They both enjoyed traveling and their summer home in Camp Meeker, CA; they were married for 60 years. He taught printing at San Francisco City College and received a life time honorary membership of the San Francisco Club of Printing House Craftsmen. Two children, his daughter Lynne Meyer; his son Fred Meyer and Fred's wife Dani Sheehan-Meyer; two grandchildren Jeffery Meyer and his wife Melanie Meyer; Kimberly Belmonte and her husband William Belmonte; and two great-grandchildren Reese and Ella Meyer survive him. Charitable donations are appreciated in place of sending flowers; his favorite charity is Camp Meeker Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 511, Camp Meeker, CA 95419. Services will be held on April 4th, 2009 at the Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco at the corner of Sloat and 45th Ave. at 11am.
