Rosetta Maria Fontana of Burlingame passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the age of 94. She was the loving wife of the late Serafino Fontana for 55 years. Loving mother of Rita Fontana (late Thomas Mallard) of San Bruno, and the late Piero Fontana. Beloved aunt of Giovanni Lucchesi (Stefania), Rina Girard, Primo Banducci (Joyce), Roberta Bertollozzi, Frank Natali (Judy), Michael Natali (Lina), Faustina Valenti, Piero Natali, Fausto Natali, Anthony Natali, late John Natali, Simonetta Vannucci (Sandro), Piero Vannucci (Cristina), Evaldo Vanucci (Marisa), Gervasio Fontana (Giovanna), Emilia Fontana (Lorenzo), and closest of friends Alvaro and the late Ida Bettucchi of South San Francisco and their family.
Born in San Leonardo in Treponzio, Italy, Rosetta was the youngest and last surviving of 11 children of the late Attilio and Faustina Natali, dear sister of Giovanni (Ilia), Maria (John Priami), Igino, Edelia, Etelvina, Isabella (Roberto Banducci), Stefano (Rosa), Osvaldo (Lidia), Luigi (Ilia), Etelvina (Guglielmo Lucchesi).
She was a member of the Italian American Citizen's Club of South San Francisco, the Italian Catholic Federation, and an avid gardener who spent days in her "office" garden. Rosetta was an amazing cook and enjoyed preparing 10-course dinners for friends and family. She was also a talented and patient seamstress who could sew anything from casual clothing to formal wear and prom dresses. Rosetta had a tireless will to give, love, and do anything for family and dear friends. She will forever be remembered for her generosity, honesty, and feisty personality.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 31 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Chapel of the Highlands, 194 Millwood Drive, in Millbrae, followed by a rosary vigil at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 1 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1720 Hillside Drive, Burlingame. Interment will follow at the Italian Cemetery in Colma.
