So Mar

So Mar November 6, 1910 - July 22, 2008 Was born in Guangdong, China and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 12 seeking a better life for himself and his family back in China. So Mar served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he was 35, he met and married his life partner, Lok Sin Cheng. They had 10 children; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren with a marriage spanning more than 60 years. So Mar passed away at the age of 97, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife Lok Sin; his sons, Warren Mar (Susan McDonough); daughter, Caroline Mar, Melissa and Jennifer Mar (daughters of the late Walter Mar); and William Mar (Tina Sung); sons, Nicholas and Elliot Mar; his daughters: Edna Cole (Richard), daughter, Lauren; Doris Yee (James), daughter, Leanna; Shirley Mar (Baron Lum), son, Brendan; Pansy Mar (Albert Wong), son, Joseph and daughter, Catherine; Judi Mar (Ronald Tong), daughter, Jessica and son, Randall; Kristine Mar and Karen Mar (Nathan Jang), and grandson, Ronald Cole (Jennifer); and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan and Evan Cole; and granddaughter, Naomi Yee (Paulo Manalo). He will be dearly missed and will live on in our hearts and memory. A vigil will be held on Thurs., July 31 at 8pm and Funeral Mass on Fri., August 1 at 10am at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 660 Filbert St., SF. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the S.F.V.A.
