Stanley Dintcho Obituary

Dr. Stanley Dintcho
June 19, 1942 - August 23, 2023
Dr. Stanley Dintcho, son of Katherine and Constantine Dintcho passed quietly on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 81 from an unexpected battle with a cancer diagnosis in April of 2023.
Born on June 19, 1942, in New Jersey City, Stanley was a mischievous and bright child who was said to be too smart for his own good. As he grew older and graduated from dental school in 1970, Stanley moved to San Francisco that same year. Just after moving, he joined the U.S. Air Force and left with the esteemed honor as captain in 1972.
Stanley Dintcho began his practice as a dentist in 1974 and operated Union Street Dental Care for over forty years. Over the years, he found much joy in sustaining relationships with his loyal patients and has created a legacy as both a dentist and a man of the community. Often, he would have meals all throughout the Marina District with staff, friends, and family. To everyone who met him, he was known to be handsome, charming, kind, thoughtful, and the most well-dressed dentist in San Francisco.
Not to mention, Stanley was a man of incredible accomplishment and talent and an established real estate developer. He spent half of his life adding beauty & charm back to the landscape that is San Francisco. When Stanley wasn't at the job, he enjoyed cruising in his vintage cars along the coast, towards Half Moon Bay, and all across Marin County. He had a passion for reading, tennis, traveling and collecting vintage cars and model airplanes, and attending car shows in his free time.
A savant reader at a tender age, he had a love for reading and wrote a book entitled, "Sex Has Really Screwed Up Your Mind and How To Get It Back." Stanley has always been a strong-willed and open-minded individual who charmed the hearts of many.
This gentle giant who always had a twinkle in his eyes and pillar of the community will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Every person who knew Stanley has been blessed by his eternal kindness. May he rest in peace.
Surviving relatives: Life partner, Angela Gans, brother Dr. Anthony Dintcho, niece Stephanie Dintcho, nephews, Demetrius Dintcho & Antonius Dintcho, great nieces, Arisa Dintcho and Halen Dintcho, great nephews, Andre Dintcho & Duke Dintcho.

I am so shocked to read about Dr. D.'s passing. I've been so busy with work I didn't even pay much attention to the news. I found Dr. D on the Internet when I was search for a laser-based gum surgery that is apparently called LANAP long ago. It was sometime in 2010 if I remember correctly. That's when I had the honor to meet Dr. D. in person, fell in love with his dental office and became one of his regular dental patients following a successful LANAP procedure. And I never regret appointing Dr. D. to become my regular dentist for good afterwards. Not only his office at Union Street Dental Care is lovely to me. He was also a kind, yet reasonable, dentist to work with as a patient.

Stanley,
I got to know you pretty good over the years, what a powerful but gentle soul you were. Always the right person to talk to, putting you at ease, able to resolve anything and everything. It was such a pleasure to help you reach some of your goals at your office but even a greater pleasure share food and friendship out of the office. You don't meet men like you that often so I will forever cherish having know you.

Dear , Stanley
I remember first seeing you across the street on the roof of 2253 Union Street as I was an assistant manager at Sundays Tanning Salon in 1992 . I thought to myself , gosh look at that seriously handsome guy on that roof . That was the first time I ever saw you . I think I was 25 years old. Over the few following years I met you casually with your niece. Skip forward 9 years . I needed dental work & made an appointment at Union Street Dental care to see you. Pretty routine & changed my one filling to porcelain white , paid my bill in 3 payments. Went back for the 6 month teeth cleaning.
That´s when you asked me out on a date. While your hands were in my mouth. Couldn´t really respond. I was like , huh ? Kinda in shock & had to think for a moment . I said, ok but I´m super busy for about 2 weeks. You were like , really ! I worked at a veterinarian and did pet sitting & pet grooming. I was super busy. As it turned out I needed a date for a work party on a Yacht. So I called you . Enter since then we just kept reconnecting. When you vacationed in Australia , I bought a ticket & met you out there & so glad I did . Magical two weeks to meet your family & see the sights . I want to say that we were inseparable for 22 years after that . We shared so much & supported each other when things were good & bad . You gave me the confidence to become a business owner & all that follows that . The wins & the drama . We had many wonderful dinners every Sunday with your mom Katherine all years she was alive. Really enjoyed those times going down to Nick´s in Pacifica . I enjoyed going with you to hunt for those special parts for the 47 Ford as she transitioned from green to black cherry. All the adventures at weird junkyards & peculiar mechanics places. A true treasure hunt . I loved going to car shows with you , wine tasting, plane exhibits , visiting with friends , traveling to far out lands when adventure always awaited us . All the wonderful Christmas & Thanksgiving gatherings at your family´s houses ( but sometimes we took off to Hawaii ) . Loved the RV trip we went on for a couple weeks . How fun . You lived in those purple trunks! Baseball games galore & special thanks to Jill . Eating out at our spots & other amazing places . Thank you always taking care of my teeth & made sure I flossed . Thank you for being such an open minded person & ready to go on adventures with me. Thank you for trusting me & sharing your life with me . Your cat " Whiskey " misses you so much . I think he saw you when we lit a candle & put the clear glass of water out . I´ve never seen him act as he was. So much I could go on to say how much we love you . My perfect life with you is now over . I want to thank you for allowing me to care for you in the months you fell ill . It gave me the opportunity to have many conversations with you . Always such a well dressed independent individual. I know it was hard . But in return I never left your side because you always took such great care of me through all my ailments & cancer , too . I saw this as my very last chance to be with you til the end. Our last journey together was the hardest thing emotionally for me . Only because I didn´t want it to end . No matter what . In the end you can´t take anything with you . You can never get time back . You can only treat every moment like it´s your last . Because every moment counts . Til death we do part , my love. I will dream of your hazel eyes & how gentle your hands were for eternity. Love , love love you & miss you with an ache that will sear through me for a very long time . I think only work & scuba diving will distract me . I will look back on our life together as a gift & treasure it fondly . Love , Angela

It is difficult to believe that this long time great friend and dentist for over 40 years will no longer be on the planet. I still feel his presence, he was a rock for me in my life, a trusted friend and confidant! Always charming, full of life and never in a hurry to listen. Will miss that smile, those greens eyes and his gentle professional care. My world will not be the same without him. So glad I was able to visit multiple times with him while going through his journey to the other side. Stanley I hope you can look down and see the number of friends and those family members who so dearly loved you...you are in our memories forever. Rest in peace dear one. You are one in a million!!! Stan,
We met and became friends at Eastside High School back in Paterson, NJ. Many years passed, college, you as an Air Force Officer and me as an Army Officer. After all those years, we reconnected at a high school reunion and it seemed to erase those in between years. Actually when you walked in to the reunion, my wife saw this handsome guy and I teased her about you stepping on her tongue. I had many business meetings in SFO, formerly my favorite city, and we got together many times for lunch and dinner. One time I told him that I wanted to go to a tourist place for dinner and he said he´ll meet me at Alioto´s. I put our names in for a table and was informed that there was a 2 hour wait. I then saw this 1947 Ford pull in and I told him the bad news. He went to the young lady at the desk, said something and 3 microseconds later I heard, "Dr. Dintcho, you table is ready".
We met a couple times with my wife and the last time was at a street lunch place with your brother.
I know we all miss you and you are lucky to have your brother, his family, Angela, Suzanne and your EHS connection and Nancy and I are lucky to have been part of your life.
Thanks for the Memories and I will think of you when we have our Avgo Lemono soup on qiidiaqui (or whatever the spelling is).

I´m not even sure where to start, other than to say the world is a little dimmer since August 23rd, 2023z. Stanley was absolutely one of a kind - and he I often joked he represented my longest "successful relationship" as I have been his patient since I moved to SF in 1996.

Every visit for a teeth cleaning or some other procedure included him sharing some thoughts or philosophies or perspectives - usually as I was not in a position to respond as he had a hand or two in my mouth.

But I always left those one-sided discussions a little wiser... and more reflective... and honestly, would spend the next couple of days thinking about what Dr D had shared.

I know he wrote and published a book - but it pales in comparison to the thoughts he shared over the past 27 years. I just wish I had thought to write them down.

I will miss him - and can only express my deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his colleagues and co-workers.

Stanley - pretty sure we will meet again, and when we do be ready...

I get to talk back this time!

Condolences to family and loved ones. So many memories of seeing Stanley walking down Union Street. My favorite is looking up into those green eyes while breathing in the nitrous in the dental chair. Wonderful man who will be missed.
