Vincent Aloise Obituary

Vincent Anthony Aloise June 14, 1928 - March 25, 2007 Passed away, after complications due to heart surgery, at Kaiser hospital in San Francisco, CA. Vince was the proud son of Italian immigrants from the Calabria region of Italy. He often joked that he was born exactly nine months to the day after his mother arrived from Italy to meet his father, who had come the to United States 11 years earlier. Vince was born and grew up in Oakland, CA, where he was a two-time All Oakland Athletic League First Team football player for McClymonds High School. He went on to play for San Francisco State, before entering into the Merchant Marine. He was always proud of the fact that he sailed around the world twice while serving on a number of merchant ships as a seaman in the Seafarers Union. He worked on the produce dock at Safe- way Stores and was elected by his fellow members to union office. In his 30 year career as a Teamster Union office he served as principal officer of Teamsters Local 315, Joint Council of Teamsters No. 7 executive board vice president, Western Conference of Teamsters UPS director, and, most recently, Western Region Representative for the IBT's Department of Retiree Affairs. Vince was preceded in death by his wife Terry; his parents Carlo and Angelina; his sisters, Josephine and Jean. He is survived by his three children Rome (Deborah), Angela (Ron Creighton) and Gina Aloise; and three grandchildren, Dominic Aloise, Alexis Cosio and Devin Aloise-Caise; and his stepdaughters, Cindy and Dana. He remained close friends with the mother of his children and first wife, Rosemarie. He is also survived by Marlene Starr, who made the last days of his life full and happy. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 2nd at 1:30 p.m. at Teamsters Local 70, 70 Hegenberger Road, Oakland, CA, with a reception following at Francesco's Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Teamsters Assistance Program (TAP) 300 Pendleton Way, Oakland, CA 94621, or The Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2100 Merced St., San Leandro, CA 94577

Dear Rome & Family:
We grew up knowing your Dad as our "Uncle Vince" as he was like family to us. Along with other fine Teamsters, like Barbara & Landon Wolfe (our dearly-departed parents), they made the Teamsters stong and proud for many many years! Your Dad was a great great man!
Love & Prayers,
Cathy Wolfe-Knowles & Donna Wolfe-Maxwell & their families xo
