I Googled Mr. Morlock today, since he was the answer to my favorite teacher for a security question. He taught me history, especially the Eastern European variety, for two years at SI (Class of '66). I especially remember his lectures on Jan Huss, a Czech reformer in the early 15th century. He invigorated my love of history which helped launch my career in military intelligence, which ironically enough he ventured into as well. I had the opportunity once to meet him and his family and express my appreciation after mass in the late 80's at St. Thomas More. Teachers do have an impact, and I will be forever grateful for his influence on my life.

Bill was a very dear friend when we taught together at St. Ignatius. I really loved him as he was a close friend. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in God's peace and await my joining him in eternity.

I met Bill at our eedding reception in 1989 and he was such a nice intense person. I did not know he was my ex husbands teacher at one time. He always stressed how intelligent my ex husband was in school. I respected his opinion so much. I will always remember the New Years we spent with his family.

Mr. Morlock taught me German for three years, from 1965 to 1968. But he taught me much more than that. He is probably the most learned man I have ever met, and that includes my undergraduate and graduate school professors. He knew so much about so many areas! What I most appreciated about him is that he really engaged with me in discussions ranging from matters of religion to culture, history, and, perhaps most importantly, how to live a good life. He took a 15-year old seriously. And with affection and caring. I will always remember him with respect, admiration, and great affection.

Mr. Morlock was a superb teacher who brought the study of history alive for me deeply for his students. I attended Cal Berkeley, as a history major of course, and he would visit me on occasion. What a concerned, caring and kind man. I will be forever grateful that he touched my life. He made me proud to be an SI grad, Class of 1966.

I remember Mr. Morlock -- that is what we called him -- fondly as a student at SI (1960-1964). I especially recall how he noticed my keen interest in history and urged me to learn German as an avenue into research. He tried to tutor me in after school sessions, but I was not a very good student at the time. Be that as it may, he was a great teacher and will be missed by generations of Ignatians. Auf Wiedersehen, Bill.

Dear Morlock,
I had the good fortune of having your husband, father, as a teacher at SI. Undoubtedly, perhaps the finest teachers, classiest gentlemen I've ever encountered - I believe there are many who feel that way. He represented the heart and soul of what it means to be a San Franciscan! May God put him in the front of HIS class! RIP, Mr. Morlock.

One of the best among a superb group of teachers at SI. Clearly made a difference in his patient and persistent approach to making his students understand that success comes with hard work. He will be missed!

Mr. Morlock was a gentleman and a scholar -- a true polymath with encyclopedic knowledge of history, language, Catholicism and countless other subjects. He was a gifted teacher and a kind person. Mr. Morlock was S.I. at its best.

I am saddened to lose a man who helped to shape my life. I have fond memories of him, his teachings and his contributions to making men out of boys at St. Ignatius.
We have all lost a part of our lives with his passing.
