Karsten, Marlene A.

Marlene Ann Karsten, age 86, of Plymouth, went home to be with her Lord late Saturday Morning (August 19, 2017) at the Atrium in Plymouth, where she had been a resident for the past 7 months.

Marlene was born on November 22, 1930, in Plymouth, WI, a daughter of the late Cornelius and Helen (Lindow) Schaap.

She attended area schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949.

On August 21, 1952 she married Gordon Karsten at Zion Lutheran Church in Glenbeulah, WI.

Marlene was a housewife and farmwife and helped her husband run the family Homestead in the Town of Plymouth. She also worked for several years at Bemis Manufacturing in Sheboygan Falls. Her husband preceded her in death on April 23, 2011.

She was former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Glenbeulah and is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth where she served on the Ladies Evening Guild in the Church. Marlene also belonged to the Farm Bureau for many years.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include; Three sons: John Karsten, David (Barbara) Karsten and Mark (Jennifer) Karsten all of Plymouth. Three grandchildren: Stephanie (Timothy) Schultz of Greenbush, Samantha (Zachary) Tess of Mankato, MN and Michael Karsten (special friend: Katie Flynn) of Oshkosh; Three great-grandchildren: Natalie and Arthur Tess, and Trent Schultz; Three sisters: Gladys Beringer of Plymouth; Louella Meinnert of Sheboygan Falls and Cleo (Eugene) Leonard of Kiel.

She also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Gordon, Two sisters: Judy Schaap and an infant sister: Nyla Jo and Two brothers-in-law: Willard Beringer and Milton Meinnert and One sister-in-law: Doris Karsten.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Evening (August 22, 2017) at 6:30 P.M.

at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Rev. John Schultz, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will take place in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the CHURCH on Tuesday (August 22) from 5:00 P.M. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Marlene's name.
