Basler, Mary J. (1940-2015)

Mary J. Basler, age 75, of Plymouth, passed away late Friday evening (Dec. 18, 2015) at the Sharon S Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.

Mary was born on March 2, 1940 in Glenbeulah, WI, daughter of the late James and Vera Webb Mullen.

She attended Glenbeulah Public Grade School and graduated from Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School in 1958. On October 1, 1960 she married Bernard Basler at St. Fridolin's Parish in Glenbeulah.

Mary was employed at Willow Glen Academy in Plymouth for twenty six years, retiring in 2002.

She was a member of St. Mary's parish in Cascade until the church closed and is currently a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the church serving as an officer for five years, a Den Mother for the Campfire Group and the Cub Scouts at St. John the Baptist Catholic School as well as being a Red Cross volunteer in the health room and enjoyed volunteering at the St. Vincent De Paul Store in Plymouth.

Mary enjoyed getting together with friends and had a passion for reading in her spare time.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years; Bernard of Plymouth, One daughter: Cynthia (Robert) Lynch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Three sons: Brian (Lori) Basler of Cleveland, Donald (Dianne) Basler of Plymouth and Jeffrey Basler of Sheboygan. Seven grandchildren, four step granddaughters and four great grandchildren.

One sister: Donna (Allen) Bramsteadt of Howards Grove, One brother: Dale (Kathy) Mullen of California, Two sister-in-laws: Laverne Basler of Sheboygan and Yvonne Basler of Kiel, One brother-in-law: Keith Basler of Lake in the Woods, IL.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; Phyllis (Arthur) Thiessen and Shirley (Melvin) Kraemer, Two brother-in-laws; Elmer Basler and Jerry Basler.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday evening (Dec. 22, 2015) at 6:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Rev. Dan Volkert, pastor of the church will officiate.

Friends may call at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services. Burial will be at St. Fridolins Cemetery in Greenbush.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Mary's name.
