Voorhans, Robert G.

Robert G. Voorhans, of Kohler, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, October 12, at his home. Robert was born June 15, 1929, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to the late Cornelius and Aletta Voorhans He graduated from North High School and attended Hope College. He was married to Margaret Knier on October 25, 1951. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage where they traveled to over 38 different counties.

Robert was the owner of Voorhans Construction in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was general contractor and built many establishments throughout the area. He was a member of First United Lutheran Church of Sheboygan and Emmanuel Lutheran, in Naples, FL. He honorably served his country in The United States Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his children, Deborah Pauley, of Eagan, MN; (Kurt) Barbara Roth of Libertyville, IL; (Daniel) Keith Voorhans of Sheboygan; and Nancy Rigby of Algonquin, IL (Bill Hansen).

He was a grandfather of five, Ryan Roth, (Gretchen) Jennifer Spector, Lauren Roth Grohe (Brian), Amy and Christopher Rigby and great-grandfather of one (Taylor A. Grohe). He is also survived by his brother-in-law Norm Knier, of Sheboygan, WI. He was a active member in People to People which brought him a relationship with his student son, Martin Hertkorn of Sindelfingen, Germany. Martin has been a member of the Voorhans family for over 40 years.

Robert resided both in Kohler, Wisconsin and in Naples, Florida.at Bears Paw Country Club, where he enjoyed many years of golfing and close friendships for over 30 years. He also was a former member of a Kiwanis Club in Sheboygan.

Memorial services will be at First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, on Wednesday, October 17, at 2 p.m., located at 2401 Kohler Memorial Dr Sheboygan, WI. A memorial fund has been established in his name for First United Lutheran Church.
