Samuel Felten Obituary

Samuel Felten Sr., 910 N. 10th Street Apt 106, Sheboygan, went to be with his Lord on Jan. 28 2012. Sam was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Sheboygan; son of the late Emil and Theodora Felten. He graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan in 1949 and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years during the Korean War. Sam then worked in the technical services division of Kohler Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1993.

Sam and Jean Waterman were married in Calif. in Oct. of 1952, and had six children. Jean passed away Dec. 1, 1976, of breast cancer. Sam married Mary Lou King on May 27, 1978; she had four children. Mary Lou passed away on Jul. 18, 2003, of Lou Gehrig's disease.

Sam was a member and treasurer of Oakbrook Community Church. He enjoyed the added blessing of having his son-in-law, Pastor Mario Ciotola be the pastor of Oakbrook Community Church since 1998. Sam enjoyed all sports throughout his lifetime. He was an avid Packers fan. He also loved to watch his extensive collection of Bill Gaither videos and DVDs.

Sam sang with the Men of Harmony male chorus for about 15 years and also sang with "The Kings Delegates" male quartet for the first eight years of the group. In his retirement, he also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku. However, Sam's greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Sam loved to travel. He often said he was very grateful to three very special friends, Stuart Willard, Rick Conrardy and Ann Progar who went with him on vacation for a week to ten days each year after Mary Lou died. Together they saw the indescribable beauty of the United States.

Sam is survived by his children, Sam Jr. (Linda) Felten, Bruce (Lennelle) Felten, Lori (Pastor Mario) Ciotola, Judy (Stuart Willard) Felten, (Saki Agopian), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sam is further survived by his brothers, Harold Felten, Lawrence (Mary Ann) Felten, James Felten and a sister, Lorraine Felten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruth, brothers, Rudy, Roland, Emil Jr., Ray, daughter, Nancy Agopian and an infant son, Steven, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ciotola.

Family and friends may call at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mario Ciotola officiating.

Burial to follow in the Wildwood Cemetery with VFW Post #9156 according military honors.

Dear Felten family,

Our sincere condolences to you all. I only met Sam on a few occasions, but each time I did, his gentleness and sincere Christian love were what you witnessed.

He is now at Home with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May you all be comforted by the memories you have and the anticipation of your joyful reunion in Heaven with him.

Sam Felten Sr. was the most gentle, kind, thoughtful Christian man I had the blessing of knowing and sharing time with. From time to time I would visit with him at Arabellas Restaurant in Sheboygan. Sam had a sense of humor and talked also about his love for the Lord Jesus, His children and grandchildren were always in his conversation. He will be missed. Our loss. Heaven's gain. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Lovingly, Gigi Tetzlaff Durow
