Annie Corry Obituary

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Annie Robinson Corry, 89, resident of Summit Place, Kings Mountain, completed her life here on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Mecklenburg County to the late Jess and Addie Torrence Robinson.
Mrs. Corry received a Bachelor's degree from Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, and later completed a Master's degree at North Carolina University in Durham. She worked over 30 years in education in a number of different school systems including Mecklenburg, Gaston, Cleveland and Halifax counties to name a few, beginning initially as a French and English teacher. At the time of her retirement, she was an assistant principal with the Gaston County school system. In addition to being a dedicated educator, Mrs. Corry was involved in numerous local and national civic organizations throughout the years as well. During her lifetime, she was very much involved in church activities as a member of both Washington Baptist Church and Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayward C. Corry, Sr.; four sisters and two brothers.
Left to cherish loving memories, one daughter, Patricia A. Corry of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Clayward C. "Mickey" Corry, Jr. (Bettye) of Kings Mountain; one grandson, Clayward C. Corry, III (Marcella) of Charlotte; two great-grandchildren, Dillon and Isabela; her caregivers, Ester Wingo and Terricia Wingo; three sisters in law, Symantha Williams, Janol Whitfield and Albertine Hickman; one brother in law, John Corry, Sr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral: Monday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m., at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Kings Mountain.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
Burial: Washington Baptist Church
Officiated by: The Rev. H. Lynn McDowell and Dr. John G. Corry, Sr. delivering the eulogy

Mrs. Corry was such a sweet lady. When my family owned Allen's Flower Shop I always enjoyed talking with her when she came in or called. She had such a genuine smile, she always brightened my day.
