Doug Lipsey

GAFFNEY, SC - Douglas Eugene Lipsey, 73, of 111 W. 3rd Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the husband of Catherine Lucille Price Lipsey and the son of the late Elbert Lipsey, Sr., and Mary Jenelle Duncan Lipsey.

He was retired from Timken, was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Shelby, where he served as a deacon, attended Gaffney High, loved fishing and hunting, served on Gaffney Housing Authority since 1993 and served as Chairman since 2005, and was an avid Gaffney Indian and Carolina Gamecock fan. Mr. Lipsey loved the Lord and His church and would drive his minister to many revivals to worship.

In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Cathy Farish and husband, Vic; three brothers, Elbert Lipsey Jr. and wife, Betty Gail, of Gaffney, Levon Lipsey and wife, Peggy, of Gaffney, and Terry Lipsey and wife, Cheryl, of Earl, NC; a sister, Frances Sanders and husband, Randy, of Lenoir, NC; two grandchildren, Victoria Farish and Andrew Farish.

Mr. Lipsey was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Wayne Lipsey and Danny Lipsey; and a sister, Melinda Pennington.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Blakely Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Goodman and Reverend Johnny Owen officiating.

Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
