Robert Bess Obituary
KINGS MOUNTAIN-Robert Wayne Bess, age 75, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Feb. 14, 2017, at Carolinas Health Care System – Lincolnton. Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Daniel Wayne Bess. Robert served as a Gunnery Sgt. in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict. He was retired from Carolina Handling Company as a forklift technician. He enjoyed surf fishing and camping. He was a loving, father, grandfather, husband, brother, son, and friend.
Survivors are his wife, Karen Bess of Kings Mountain; mother, Margie Sellers Bess of Kings Mountain; daughters, Tracy B. Morgan (Frank) of Morganton and Kelly C. Bess (Mike Farmer) of Mountain City, Tennessee; sons, Shane Absher (Tara) of Kings Mountain, and PJ Perkins (Teke Paul) of Charleston, S.C.; brothers, Steve Bess (Betty) of Gastonia; sister, Patricia B. Church (Mike) of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Christian Freedom Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Harris Funeral Home.
Interment with Full Military Honors provided by the Marine Corp League, Foothills Detachment, will be at Christian Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery after the service.
