Frantt Whitehill Obituary

Frantt V. Whitehill, 73, of Midland, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born June 1, 1951 in Shelby, Michigan, son of the late Charles and Evelyn (Clark) Whitehill. Frantt attended Randall School, a one room schoolhouse three miles east of Hart.

He graduated from Hart High School where he was a member of the Chess Club, Future Farmers of America, Shop Club, JV Football, and class Vice President.

Frantt went on to attend West Shore Community College until he enlisted in the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Frantt took welding classes, becoming a pipefitter. He worked for several local unions across the country before retiring in 2009 from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #85 in Saginaw. Frantt served in various capacities on multiple Local Union committees. He was also a proud member of the Free Masons, where he belonged to several Lodges over the years. Frantt was very active in local politics including the Midland County Democratic Party. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his wife, Carol, as they traveled and went to concerts.

Frantt is survived by his wife, Carol Wirtz- Whitehill; sister, Markeeta Marie (Jon) Cohen; brothers, Ford C. Whitehill, Garth P. (Ann) Whitehill, Ned A. Whitehill, and Roy B. Whitehill; nieces and nephews, Hannelore (Seth) Coe, Nickie Whitehill, Benjamin (Carissa) Harington, and Ryan (Maria) Whitehill; and in-laws, Dick (Theresa) Wirtz, Bruce Wirtz, and Connie Wirtz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Rebecca Nan Whitehill and Awilda Ruth Ann Whitehill, as well as a nephew, Nicholas Whitehill and sister-in-law, Robin Wirtz-Robinson.

Funeral services for Frantt will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025 from Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. His family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 - 7 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Disabled American Veterans, Midland's Centre Lodge #273, or Shriners Hospitals for Children. All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Whitehill family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.

Frantt and I went through school together starting at Randal. We lived next to each other and spent many days playing and growing up together. I am very sad to hear of his passing. He was one of the nicest and kindness people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Roger Hill
