Dennis Barker Obituary

Dennis Wayne Barker

Bossier City, LA - On Monday, April 26, 2021, after a lengthy illness, Dennis Wayne Barker went to be with his Lord. He was truly a very special husband, father, son, brother and friend.

A memorial service honoring the life of Dennis will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Peggy Richardson.

Dennis was born in Homer, Louisiana on August 6, 1951, to Harold Eugene Barker and Peggy Rushing Barker. He was an independent used car dealer, and owner of Dennis Barker Auto Sales. He loved what he did and the great friends he made doing it. Dennis was a happy, free spirit, a people person, fun-loving, generous man. There was never a dull moment all his years. He was an optimist that always saw the good in everything and everybody. He loved his family and his friends fiercely. He did his best to always be there if someone needed him. He loved riding his Harley with his buddies, riding 4-wheelers in Colorado, along with any mud rides, and going to the lake with family and friends. He loved life, was able to live it to the full. He knew he was blessed as we all were to love him and have him in our lives.

He is preceded in death by his mother and daughter, Allison Barker Hall.

Left to always cherish his memory are his wife of fifty years and high school sweetheart, Kathryn Jeter Barker; father; daughter, Lindsey Barker Byerley and husband, Richie; son-in-law, Charlie "Denny" Hall and wife, Amanda; four beautiful grandchildren that were his heart and soul, Avery Byerley, Finley Byerley, Trace Hall, and Ella Hall; his brother, Randy Barker and wife, Marby; sister, Kim Barker Horton and husband, Cliff; brother-in-law, Jeff Jeter and wife, Jane; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Serving Dennis as honorary pallbearers will be Al White, Jeff Johnson, Ronnie Attaway, Marty Bamburg, Tom Poston, Budda Cordaro, Red Cross and Taylor Cross.

We love him and will miss him, but know that he is perfect now, and that we will see him again. He is with his Lord and Savior Jesus, his daughter, mother, grandparents, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children- Shreveport, Attn: Development Office, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103, or charity of your choice. Special thanks to Peggy Richardson, and Hospice nurses Katie and Amber for their care and compassion.
