Dr. Ernest Lloyd Williams

SHREVEPORT, LA. Services for Dr. Ernest Lloyd Williams will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Rest Baptist Church, 1664 Garden Street, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Clayton Moore. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Family visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2017, in the St. Rest sanctuary.

He departed this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, following a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Gloria Taylor Williams; two sons, Ernest Lloyd Aaron Williams, II, and Lt. Col. Reginald Todd Williams; one sister, Delores Williams-Ross; five grandchildren, Terrence J. Thibodeaux, Jr., Melissa A. Phifer, Whitney R. Williams, Mathphysmed Young, and Booker T. Williams, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A lifelong educator, Dr. Williams served more than 30 years in the Caddo Parish School System as a teacher, coach, counselor, and administrator. He also served as dean and director of the13th District Congress of Christian Education, as well as dean, director, and assistant supervisor of the Louisiana Baptist Congress and the National Baptist Congress.

The family appreciates the loving and compassionate care provided by Dr. Huan Lee, Dr. Philip Garavaglia, Dr. Raja Zabaneh, Dr. Ajaya Tummala, Nurses Thomas Tyler and Joey Soquena, the WK North ICU staff, the WK North Medical Dialysis Center, and the director and staff of Trinity Home Health Care.

I can remember him roaming the halls of Herndon greeting students with a smile and discipline. He was a mentor as well as an inspiration to us country yokels. Thank you for sharing him with us and may God continue to bless you and your family.

Mrs Williams and family please accept the condolences of the Shreveport Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, we are deeply sadden at the loss of our devoted Brother. Brother Ernest truly epitomized the Kappa ideal....a man of faith and purpose. He remains a principal pillar on which our Chapter was built. The very essence of chapter, our Chapter administration was greatly influenced by his efforts. I owe a lot to my mentor and friend, who taught me lessons that have carried over into all aspects of my life. Well respected all over Kappa he will be truly missed and will forever be remembered as a true Kappa man. May God bless and keep you....you remain in our prayers.
