Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, with frequent visits to Florida, and spent cherished time camping at Camp Qtokee and fishing at Rice Lake in Canada. David was also passionate about wood carving, particularly creating duck decoys, and earned several ribbons at carving competitions. A lover of sports, he enjoyed golfing, reading, following NASCAR, and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team. He was especially overjoyed when his beloved Buckeyes won the National Championship, a victory that was particularly meaningful to him as it mirrored their first National Championship in the year of his birth. My favorite memory of Dave is when, as high school seniors, we were sent to Orange Township school to be the teachers for the day for a sixth-grade class because no subs could be found. I have no memory of what we did, but both we and the class survived.
