Richard Cowell Obituary
Richard Cowell of Valencia, CA passed away at home, surrounded by his loving wife and children on May 5, 2020. He was born on October 11, 1937, in Kansas City, MO to Albert and Ada Cowell.
The family moved to Seattle, WA when Richard was just 6 months old. He attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington, both in Seattle, WA where he was Alpha Tau Omega. Richard became a Fire Fighter in 1960 and worked for the Seattle Fire Department from July 1960 to August 1964. He moved to California in 1964 and worked for Lockheed Fire Department from October 1964 until he retired in April of 1997.
Richard loved being a Fire Fighter. He was certified in advanced First Aid and Emergency Care, Basic Life Support as a Professional Rescuer as well as Cardiopulmonary Resus citation, Environmental Instrument Monitoring, Fire Aircraft Rescue and Hazardous Materials First Responder Technician.
In October of 1973 Richard met Susan, the love of his life and they married in April of 1974 and raised two beautiful children, Christine and Richard Jr. After retirement, Richard and Susan moved to the beautiful mountains of Lake Almanor, CA where they enjoyed hiking, fishing, boating, and the activities of a snow filled winter. Richard also loved to hunt, ride dirt bikes and watch football and NASCAR. His wife was his best friend, and his children were his love and priority, and he was our anchor.
Richard was a good, honest, caring, loving man who always put family first. Richard would help anyone who asked and everyone who knew him loved him. He will be dearly missed.
Richard is survived by Susan, his loving wife of 46 years, his daughter Christine (Rick), his son Richard Jr., his nephew Curt (Candy) and their children in Oregon, his niece Lisa and her children in Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ada Cowell and his sister Patricia Baunsgard.

A church service will be held to honor Richard on Saturday June 11, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Newhall, CA. A private reception to follow
